Thika face Rangers
Thika United’s next assignment will be on Sunday the 25/03/2012 up against troubled Rangers FC at the Nyayo national stadium starting at 1500 hrs East African time, After their last weekend’s home win against a well organized Sony Sugar team, United will be hoping to get their second win of the campaign after a slow start into the 2012 premier league season.
Their last meeting in the 2011 season at the same venue, the hosts squeezed a controversial win, scoring the only goal of the match in the dying minutes in an unsporting fashion. Rangers had in this occasion, placed two footballs and two players positioned ready to take the corner kick from both sides of United’s goal. Amazingly the center referee Mr. Haji Adede and his first assisting referee allowed the confusion to stand. Memmories of that incidence are still very fresh at United’s camp.
This will yet be another “Milk derby” as both teams are sponsored by Dairy processing companies, Thika with Brookside dairy Ltd. while Rangers are in the final stages of negotiations for a sponsorship deal with Daima Dairy Ltd.
Currently Thika is lying 11th with 7 points after six rounds while their hosts are in 12th with 5 points after the fifth round mid week draw with Gor Mahia at the Nyayo national stadium.
United’s head coach John Kamau to the news desk. ” So far, its going on so well and we have evrybody available for selection save for the injured Francis Chege who is out for six weeks”, The spirit in the dressing room is very very encouraging.
