Thika United FC this morning Friday 7th March 2014, tapped second tier side Mahakama FC 2-1 in a training match at the BAT Grounds in Thika.
All the three goals came in the first half with Thika United opening the scores in the 19th minute courtesy of an interception by new signing Suleiman Ngotho at the edge of the visitors’ box and expertly chipped the opener.
Mwinyi Kibwana was on the mark in the 30th minute after a smooth transition from the Kamau led outfit, which saw three touches from keeper Michael Wanyika to Right back Daniel Ojaro and finally to attacking Mid fielder Mwinyi who confidently cut through the entire Mahakama defense and eventually beating the opponents keeper with a narrow shot.
The law-makers currently led by former Thika United assistant coach James Omondi pulled one back through a set-piece which Winger Alvisia Sila neatly curved the ball over the wall catching keeper Wanyika flat footed in the 42nd minute.
The second half was more reserved as both teams’ played more cautiously and the match ended 2-1 in favour of the hosts.
“We are happy with what our new players have displayed and the sole purpose of the training matches is to instill our system of play into the players who have not been featuring in our league matches, and very soon we shall be introducing some of them.”
