Ndinya’s late strike downs Thika Utd in friendly.
Head Coach James Nandwa was eager to keep his team’s pre-season unbeaten run intact but the 2016 league champions Tusker FC had a different agenda as both teams met in a friendly match aimed at sharpening their tactical and technical aspects in preparation for 2017 SportPesa Premier League (SPL).
Thika United took the lead courtesy of a Sammy Meja penalty, awarded after new signing Benson Iregi was tripped in the box in the 30th minute.
Both Shami Kibwana and Eugene could have put Thika three goals up before the break when there shots hit the upright, with keeper Okello beaten.
With Tusker opting to keep their first half starting eleven,Coach Nandwa brought in fresh legs for the second period.
Under 20 youngster James Kinyanjui dazzled in the attacking third and after a fine one two with Salim Mzee, ‘Jemo’ was only denied by the crossbar leaving the Tusker defenders badly exposed.
Realizing danger Tusker brought in Victor Ndinya and his impact was immediately felt; winning a corner which resulted in Antony Ndolo securing an equalizer with a fine header.
Ndinya was at it again in the 88th minute after a spirited solo move beating Caleb Wafula in goal.1-2 final score.
