Nigerian import Onwudi Chibueze scored the all important goal as Thika United FC beat Sony Sugar 1-0 at Ruaraka grounds this afternoon.
Thika United set off to a blistering pace with Shami Mwinyi terrorizing on the left flank and setting up Eugene Mukangula who arrived a little late for a sitter in the first minute of the game.
A poor restart by SoNy Keeper Kevin Omondi in the 18th minute gifted Thika United the lead. Eugene Mukangula collected the ball and set up Chibueze who strolled with the ball into the back of the net.
Thika United wasted several chances to bury the game in the first half as the visitors searched for an equalizer.HT 1-0.
Barren second half
Both sides came off the breather with zeal to better their first half play, but Thika United still couldn’t convert their chances and to pour cold water on their efforts Chibueze was red carded in the 64th minute for retaliation and consequently his compatriot too was shown red after the referee consulted with the fourth official for clarification of the incident.
The match ended 1-0 in favour of the hosts.
