Munyaos’ 90th minute strike downs Kenya U-20.

Thika United’s under-20 offensive winger Dennis Munyao came in as a substitute to score a late winner, as Thika United dispatched Kenya U-20 1 -0 in a training match earlier this morning at Thika Sub-County Stadium.


After a goalless but entertaining 89 minutes Thika United got a free-kick outside the box in the 90th minute; Munyao stepped up and curved the ball into the net beating the U-20 custodian.


The two teams are in preparations for their respective League and continental matches scheduled for the weekend of 31st March and 1st of April against Posta Rangers and Rwanda U-20.Report by Ken_Magu.

Thika United FC will on Friday 23rd March play host to Kenya Under 20 national team in a friendly match, set to kick off at 10am at Thika Sub-County Stadium.


Thika United who will be taking on Posta Rangers away in Machakos in their next league fixture on 31st March, are yet to find the winning touch. But coach Muyoti shall be aiming to work on the finishing quagmire in front of goal, when they play the U-20 team, in the FIFA weekend.


The National team which has been in camp in preparedness to take on Rwanda in a two-leg Africa U-20 Cup of Nations qualifiers on 30th March (Kenya) and on 14th April (Rwanda).


The match is slated for Friday 23rd with kick off at 10am, at Thika Sub-County Stadium. Compiled by Ken_Magu.

Thika United will test their pre-season progress with two top level training matches against Kenyan Premier League (KPL) counterparts Ulinzi Stars and AFC Leopards.

The Nicholas Muyoti coached side finalized with trials a week ago and shall be eager to fully gauge the new acquisitions in the two friendlies.

Thika United will on Friday 19th January take on Ulinzi Stars and a second match on Saturday 20th against AFC Leopards; both matches shall be held at Thika Sub-County Stadium, with kickoff slated for 3pm.

Thika United FC this morning Saturday 18th February 2017, settled to a 2-2 draw in a friendly match played at Thika Sub-County Stadium.

Timothy Luda opened the scores in the 13th minute after a neat through ball from Suleiman Ngotho.

The hosts gained more confidence after the goal and dictated the proceedings and almost found the net twice but credits went to the heroics of the visitors keeper Musalia who had a busy last 25 minutes as the match went for the breather, Thika United leading by a solitary goal.


As the teams resumed for the second period, Posta Rangers looked more determined to even the scores as their counterparts looked sluggish as the new set of Thika players struggled to get into the game.

Coach Pamzos’ men kept pilling pressure on the hosts and in the 75th minute Thika United conceded a penalty after the ball was handled in the area,Joackins Atudo stepped up and made no mistake sending Emasse the wrong way and equalizing for Rangers.


Sensing danger Nandwas’ men charged up and pulled two counter attacks as both teams searched for a winner, and the second one Thika United got what could have been the winner in the first minute of added time as new signing Sosthenes Idah released a thunderbolt from a poor clearance outside the box-beating Farouk Shikalo in goal.

Posta Rangers pushed on and their efforts were rewarded in the final minute of added time after a goalmouth melee resulting with an equalizer for the visitors and forcing Thika United to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Thika United FC had planned two friendlies slated for February 18th at 9am and another one at 3pm, pitting Posta Rangers and AFC Leopards respectively in their pre-season training matches ahead of the Kenyan Premier League 2017 edition kickoff.

Following a prior booking of the Thika Sub-County Stadium, the club has been forced to call off the afternoon friendly against AFC Leopards as the Stadium is booked for the afternoon of Saturday and the whole day on Sunday, prompting a deferral.

The Brookside sponsored side, shall now only play Posta Rangers on the morning of Saturday 18th at Thika Sub-County Stadium from 9am.

Meanwhile Coach Nandwa stated to his team will continue with weekly friendlies until when the league kicks off,

“As things are of now we really don’t know when the league shall kick off, for us it’s to keep the team ready and by so doing we have planned several friendly matches every week to keep the team in shape, awaiting the fixtures’ release.”

Mathare United, AFC Leopards and Bidco FC are among the teams the coach hopes to play against in the near future if the league fails to kick off. Compiled by Ken.Magu.

The training match against KCB kick off at 11:30am at Camp Toyoyo, with Thika United taking almost an half an hour to get into the first and pacey game of the Bankers,but by then Nandwas’ men had soaked up 4 goals.

By half time Thika United had only one shot on target, and all hopes were left to the next set of players to try and change the fortunes.

With KCB comfortably leading the scores by four unanswered goals, Thika United started their uphill task of searching for goals,their efforts were rewarded at the hour mark when Owudi Chibueze was fouled in the box.

Dennis Odhiambo stepped up and converted the penalty but,that was all the visitors could manage to salvage in the encounter.4-1 final score.

Thika United are planning two more friendlies in the coming week to fully work on the playing unit that will possibly form the first 18 in Coach Nandwas’ team and the working formula seems clear and it’s just an issue of gelling.Compiledd by Ken.magu.

Image11 vs Tusker friendlyHead Coach James Nandwa was eager to keep his team’s pre-season unbeaten run intact but the 2016 league champions Tusker FC had a different agenda as both teams met in a friendly match aimed at sharpening their tactical and technical aspects in preparation for 2017 SportPesa Premier League (SPL).

Thika United took the lead courtesy of a Sammy Meja penalty, awarded after new signing Benson Iregi was tripped in the box in the 30th minute.

Both Shami Kibwana and Eugene could have put Thika three goals up before the break when there shots hit the upright,with keeper Okello beaten.

With Tusker opting to keep their first half starting eleven,Coach Nandwa brought in fresh legs for the second period.

Under 20 youngster James Kinyanjui dazzled in the attacking third and after a fine one two with Salim Mzee, ‘Jemo’ was only denied by the crossbar leaving the Tusker defenders badly exposed.

Realizing danger Tusker brought in Victor Ndinya and his impact was immediately felt; winning a corner which resulted in Antony Ndolo securing an equalizer with a fine header.

Ndinya was at it again in the 88th minute after a spirited solo move beating Caleb Wafula in goal.1-2 final score.

Thika United FC will continue their pre-season training matches, this time against League champions Tusker FC and newly promoted top tier side KCB, in the coming weekend.

The Brookside sponsored side will on Friday 3rd February, take on Tusker FC in a friendly match slated to kick off from 9am, at Thika Sub-County Stadium..

The second friendly match is scheduled for Saturday 4th February, against KCB set to kick-off from 11am at Camp Toyoyo.

Thika United FC continued their pre-season winning form by beating Gor Mahia 1-2 at Camp Toyoyo grounds in Nairobi this Saturday afternoon 28th January.

Coach Nandwas side found themselves on the receiving end after a poor clearance from Shami Kibwana, finding Timothy Otieno who headed in the opener in the 7th minute.

Baraka Badi almost leveled terms two minutes later after his shot went wide -fully stretching Odhonji in goal.

After a fine team work move,Thika United’s new acquisition Edmund Aden Bala equalized after recieving a through pass from the mid-buildup attack and rounding-off on coming Odhoji.

Badi was at it again this time with along range after noticing Odhoji was off position but his on target shot lacked power.1-1 halftime.

The teams came back with clear intentions of ending the stalemate, and James Nandwa, the Thika United Head coach threw in Timothy Luda in place of Bala and the Upper Hill alumnae didn’t disappoint, getting to the end of a Suleiman Ngotho searching cross with a header past Odhoji, for the winner.

Thika United FC this morning whacked FKF Division one side Vapour FC 3-0 in a pre-season friendly match played at Thika Sub-County Stadium.

Kenyan Under 20 mid maestro James Kinyanjui, played a 1-2 move with Said Tsuma in the middle of the Vapour defense,the Passenga Alumnae unleashed a powerful shot to register Thikas’ first goal in the 36th minute.

Tsuma again was the architect again in added time of first period as Timothy Ludas’ latched forward for an easy tap in after a fine through pass in the penalty area,paving way for the second group of players to come in for the second half.

The second half was full of close calls as both teams searched for goals,but it was Thika Uniteds’ new signing goalkeeper Caleb Wafula who had a busy 15 minutes, thwarting two 1v1 situations denying the visitors a chance to equalize.

Baraka Badi took advantage of a blind side cross on a counter attack and looped over an on rushing keeper for Thikas’ third, and Badi almost scored a brace in a similar fashion only to be denied by the cross bar.

The match ended 3-0,but coach Nandwa lamented the team was lacking in Urgency and concentration,

“It was a good test for the team but we still have areas that need working on, we lost concentration and we are not playing with the urgency needed to win matches but i know with a couple of more friendlies the team will be ready for the league”-Head coach James Nandwa speaking to
