Thika losses its third game of the first leg

After a positive first leg of Thika United compared to last season, Thika United closed the first leg with a loss to Kawangware based side city stars at the hope centre in Nairobi on Sunday 20th may 2012 in round 15 of the Kenyan premier league.
The match which was initially planned to be played at the city stadium but was later changed to the hope centre, the back yard of the host city stars, a wet and muddy ground it was as the team warmed up after two days of consecutive heavy rain.
The match started on a high note with the host breaking into the visitor’s defense and in the third minute of the game city stars got their first goal through George Odary after United fullback Fred Chitai cleared the ball and fell on city stars striker who tapped the ball home.
Thika United got into the game after the goal and started playing their game despite the wet and muddy ground and in the twenty five minute young national team player Clifton Miheso was denied by City stars goal keeper after a good combination from Thika united *Messi* (Francis Kahata).
In the 37th minute united danger man Moses Arita crossed the ball to fellow striker Freeman Mulbah on the blind side to net the equalizer for the visitors and make it one all.
Thika United continued to pressurize their host creating many chances that went begging and in the 43rd min Thika conceded the second goal after poor marking in the box for Justus Basweti to score and give them a 2-1 lead at half time.
The second half started with a counters attack from both teams as they were searching for goals but it time until the 80th minute when City stars launched a counter attack in the slippery ground, Thika custodian Lucas Indeche come out to clear the ball only to hit the Kawangware based side striker serekuruma deflect it into thika net making it City Stars 3 Thika United
United had to wait until the 90th hour mark to score their second through Moses Arita who scored through a free kick after young Messi Kahata was fouled just out side the box and a minute later the centre referee finished the game and it ended in favor of the host City Stars.
At the close of the first leg Thika United finished in top 4 with 26 points 6 behind league leaders Sofapaka who have 32 points.
United tactician has also given his players a rest of one week and they will report back on Tuesday 28th May 2012 and has also released three of his players namely, Andrew Isemeki, Douglas Okumu and Nawab Issa:
