Thika rumbles mathare
After loosing the 1st game to City Stars, Thika United have gone back to its winning trend this time winning against the slum boys Mathare United on Friday 7th July 2012 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The match started with high pace as the host started shooting in from both flanks.
At the second minute Mathare got a free kick at the edge of the box but their effort to score were fruitless as the ball bounced off the Thika United wall for a corner kick.
Freeman Mulbah made an attack to the Mathare defense but Anthony Kimani was there to make sure that Mulbah could not find the net as Thika United started gaining possession and in the 15th minute, Mathare Utd defender Kimani handled the ball in the box after Chitai lobbed a cross towards teammate Clifford Miheso, resulting in a penalty for Thika United, Moses Arita converted it with ease putting his team ahead 0-1.
In the 36th minute Mathare could have leveled after Thika United defender Dirkir Glay’ mistake in a clearance of the ball to go wide for a corner kick for Mathare United and by the 45th minute mark it was Thika United 1 Mathare United 0.
After the break mathare come back trying to equalize but in the 48th minute Thika Francis Kahata sent an blazing shot from the edge of the box to beat Mathare United custodian Martin Musalia for a second goal of the day.
Mathare United mounted pressure on the Thika United defense and in the 67th minute they got an equalizer courtesy of Andrew Tololwa to make it Mathare 1 Thika 2, Thika Utd stood their ground until the final whistle, the game ended 2-1 in favour of Thika Utd.
Thika next game will be in thika agaist Oserian fc at the Thika Municipal Stadium on 15th July 2012 and the kick off will be at 1500hrs.
