Thika thrashes Mathare at a friendly matchAfter traveling to Naivasha on Sunday and loosing to Sher Karuturi 4-3, Thika United come back  and regrouped.

February 1, 2012 Mathare welcomed Thika at the Nyayo national stadium for a build up match in readiness for the upcoming Kenyan Premier league, Thika will entertain Gor Mahia in their first game of the  campaign at the Thika municipal stadium on 12-02-2012 while Mathare will face Sony Sugar in Awendo the same day.

The match started with a lot of pressure from both teams, but Thika had a better pressure because from the first minute they showed their hunger for goals, but had to wait 14 minutes into the match when Thika’s new signing Maurice Dukuly from Congo United hit the back of the net for the opener after he was set through with a pin point pass from his captain Kepha Aswani.

Mathare tried to equalize after that but under 23 goalkeeper Joel Bataro was not taking any nonsense in the box area thus giving his forward captain Aswani and Kahata to score more goals.

In the 43rd min Kahata was fouled near the corner flag, he took the free kick that sow it in the head of aswani and a goal it was the second for the milk boys.

4 min later darkly was fouled in the box after taking Mathare defender and it was another chance for Aswani to head the ball into the net again and this made Thika to lead 3 nil when the half time whistle was brown.

After the break coach John Kamau made several changes in the team from the forward, midfield and also the defense.Mathare come with a bang trying to pass the Thika defense but with no bearing fruits and Thika was not taking chances in the defense, while the striking force was buffed up when Moses Arita come in and replaced Kepha who was substituted after he got an injury, Arita was more faster than the Mathare defense thus being fouled at the edge of the box. Francis Chege took that opportunity and he netted the 4th goal of Thika in the 68 min.

13 min later mathare were awarded a penalty after Kizito brought Mathare striker into the  box in they netted it into the net and they kept on coming for more goal and on the 87th min they got an opportunity and they converted it thus making it Thika 4 mathare 2 at the end of the whistle.

Thika United will be taking on Mahakama on Saturday starting at 3 pm in Thika municipal stadium which will be the last friendly before the premier league kicks off.
