Thika thrashes Muhoroni youth

After being out for two weeks United top scorer and Kenya premier league top scorer Kepha Aswani was in the mood to continue with his impressive performance of scoring more goals this year as his aim is to finish as the top scorer come the end of 2012 premier league season as he scored the only goal of the day to see his side Thika united beat Muhoroni Youth one zero at the Thika Municipal Stadium on Saturday 28/04/012.
Thika began the match with high tempo as it searched for goals from the first whistle and in the 20 min United Clifton Miheso gave Aswani a good pass that Aswani headed into the net only to be ruled offside, Aswani continued to hunt for goals but Muhoroni custodian denied him the chance to greet the net.
On the half hour mark Muhoroni striker, also the third best scorer and former Thika striker Geoffrey Simiyu had a shoot on target only to be denied the chance to score by Thika custodian Lucas Indeche, as the match progressed their was less attack on both teams and at end of the first forty five min both teams were tied at 0-0.
Both teams came back in second half with a lot of punch and Thika were rewarded in the 50th min when Aswani combined well with his striking partner Moses Arita to get his shot at the back of the net making it one goal to the home side and his eighth goal of the season.
Muhoroni tried their level best to equalize the goal but the well built defense of Thika United comprising of young star David Bogere, Fred Chitai, Dirkir Glay and Vincent Nyamberi made it difficult for Muhoroni strikers to get the equalizer.
On the 88th min United Francis Kahata got an opportunity to make it two nil but his short was deflected by a Muhoroni defender for a corner. Miheso took the corner that United defender Vincent Mogaka headed it out as he tried to score but went out for a goal kick, as Muhoroni goalkeeper took the goal kick only the ball to be taken by United defender to play square ball commonly known as *singi* the centre referee Fideris Wekesa brew the final whistle to finish the match on the 93rd min.
This was the second win for united at their home ground as the first one they won against Sony Sugar and their fifth win in this season and it putting united fifth with 20 points 1 behind fourth place Chemilil sugar.
Thika will next face Oserian on Sunday 7/05/2012 at the Oserian stadium in Naivasha and they will be eying to continue with their winning way.
