Thika United Football Club will play the Kenya Commercial Bank (K.C.B) Football Club in a friendly encounter at the latter’s grounds, Nairobi. The match will be used by both teams to gauge their fitness levels, test and analyse their new signings before the start of the 2005/06 KFF-PL Premier League set to kick off on 27th August.
Thika united head coach, Juma Swalleh will parade his new boys who will be tested for first team inclusion.
In defence will be towering defender, Russel Kibet Koima brought from relegated side Pan Paper FC. Russel has proved a hard nut to crack and is very powerful in the air.He has shed off the stereotype that his tribesmen are only good runners by playing high class soccer. He has come to replace the retired Haji Bilali, now an assistant coach.
Kevin Muiruri Wanja will dispay his brilliant ball dribbling skills on either side of the backs (left or right back). Kevin ball control skills and ability to use both legs put him ahead of the pack. He is already giving regular flanks , George Maina (right back) and Michael Katumo( left back) a run for their money.
Fredrick Onyango Ochien’g nicknamed “Uche” after the legendary Nigeria stopper Uche Okechukwu will be the man to watch this season .He is an authority in central defence and can play in midfield as a wiper.He was acquired together with Kevin Muiruri, from KCB to replace the doyen of Kenyan football, Nicholas Muyoti who is joining his new club in Singapore as a professional player later in the year
Other defenders will include the hardworking Ali Khamis Omar acquired from Zulu FC, a nationwide side and Evans Okalo from our youth team.
Geofrey Njuguna, a talented and fleet- footed striker/midfielder will be playing behind the strikers. He will be displaying his clear and crisp passes by supplying our main strikers. Geofrey “kasisi” was acquired from seasoned premier league contenders, Chemillil sugar.
K.C.B will be on a revenge mission after Thika United silenced them (1-0) during their last meeting, at Thika Municipal Stadium
