Thika United play to a barren draw with Bandari.

Thika United FC missed a chance to get their first win this season after they were held to a goalless draw by Bandari FC at Thika Sub-County Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Thika UTD vs Bandari (2018)

The draw was their second in succession having dropped a 2 nil lead last Saturday to settle for a 3-3 stalemate with Nakumatt at Ruaraka. Although the result now places Thika at position 13 after three matches,  Tusker and AFC Leopards who are below them are still counting 1 and 2 matches at hand respectively.

Balanced match

Muyoti’s men made a good start playing with intent and urgency;they created a number of goal scoring opportunities that could have seen them walk out of the game victors. Nonetheless Bandari showed a lot of resilience and were buoyed by the fact that they’re yet to lose a match in the league so far.

Shami Kibwana and Davies Agesa had all their attempts saved by Bandari goalie, Farouk Shikalo who had a decent game. The visitors most realistic chance came when Antony Wambani volleyed David Kinga’tua’s cross with his right foot but again Allan Owiny came to Thika United’s rescue to frustrate Bandari the more.

Coach Muyoti partly attributed the goal drought to bad luck, ‘we were unlucky enough when Davies and Shami’s shots on target not finding the net, we could have won the game.”

The first change in the game was made in the 65th minute by the hosts. Hansel Ochieng came on for Kibwana. The dockers made their first change in the 73rd minute replacing Abdalla Hassan with John Avire. Ten minutes to the last whistle saw the match still at a stalemate. Thika United replaced Saad Musa with Michael Odongo. 5 minutes later, Bandari substituted Kingatua with Lugogo Wilberforce.

Three minutes were added in the hope of finding a winner. Bandari made their last change with Ochomo coming in for Kenga .
