Thika United share spoils despite Masakidi brace.


Clement Masakidi aka ‘Mata’ scored a brace and Saad Musa tapped in from a corner in the first half to put Thika United 3-1 up against Nakumatt FC at Ruaraka,before Boniface Mukehe and Brian Nyakan restored parity for the host to end the match 3-3.


Thika United were on top of their game as they took a seventh minute lead courtesy of former Zetech University forward Masakidi after pouncing on a loose ball outside the box and slotted in passed an on rushing Indeche in goal.0-1.


Nakumatt responded moments later with two attempts both being denied by the upright and the crossbar.

Upon realizing the one goal cushion wasn’t enough Thika United won a corner in the 15th minute and the hosts keeper wasn’t successful in thwarting the danger, as Saad tapped in the second. 0-2.


Nakumatt pulled one back after Saad lost the ball in midfield, causing the opponent to make a counter which ended with the first equalizer;

Coach Muyoti sensed danger and rallied his players not to ease pressure and it paid off as Mata played a one-two attack in the opponents third and Mata scored his second from tight angle but at the stroke of halftime the hosts won a penalty from a foul in the box.2-3.


In the second half Thika United suffered a blow when they were reduced to ten men after Emmanuel Kapchanga who came in as a last substitute got a fractured foot after a nasty foul from an opponent.


The hosts took advantage of Thika Uniteds’ deficit and puffed and huffed for an equalizer and their efforts were rewarded in the dying minutes of the match after Saad made a miss-pass with the opponent pouncing on the loose ball and striking the leveler.3-3.
